PAX Prime 2011 (check LoreHound) has kept me too busy the last few weeks to do this write-up. Be happy you have that teaser instead of an “Under Construction” animated GIF. While it’ll certainly be late for a few games, the post will go up once video editing has been completed.

PAX East 2011 is in the books and that means the 2011 convention season has officially started. The show was in much roomier venue this year, without any pesky traffic bottlenecks. Yet, the organizers still stuffed the video game section, the show’s main focus, to a corner of the massive complex. The close proximity of [...]

New York Comic Con is far from a gaming convention. I mean, gaming isn’t even mentioned in the title! Yet, the fanbase of comics, manga and anime certainly has some overlap with the video game industry. Enough of an overlap to draw in some major publishers from the video game industry. Nintendo, Activision, EA, Sega, [...]

A first impression is my take on a video game after experiencing the finished product for the first few hours. Believe it or not, many of the “reviews” out there would be labeled as first impressions. Custer’s Revenge aside, Samus delivered the first shock to gamers in 1987 by revealing that the hero was actually [...]

You may be reading that headline and thinking to yourself “Didn’t he say he wasn’t doing previews anymore?” And you’d be right, I don’t want to do the classic preview anymore. However, editors are not always on board with what a writer wants to do. Because of this, my Red Dead Redemption preview for TheGameReviews [...]

April is the beginning of Quarter 2 (Q2) for most companies across the planet. Companies that make money during the spring and summer – Lowes, Yogi Bear’s Picnic Basket Collection Agency, Coppertone, etc – are preparing for a blitz of income and product releases. The entirety of my beloved video game industry goes the other [...]

I’ve come to the decision after looking at my PAX East workload to stop writing previews. It’s not because I’m lazy, or think that the collection of titles at PAX East aren’t worthy. Many of them are. I do plan to write about the games that were on display, I simply won’t be writing in [...]

I’ve spent nearly ten hours inside the world of Mass Effect 2 for this first impression, and BioWare’s storytelling continues to captivate me. Even though the dialog choice mechanic is tired at this point, it’s still an excellent way to capture one’s intelligence and make us think of our choices. I do wish the company [...]

I’ve been digitally wrapped and injected in to the internet as part of my coverage of GameX 2009. During the three day event I meet with all the big developers, and ran the gauntlet with some of the smaller ones as well. Below you’ll find my video interview with Dennis of Electronic Arts, courtesy of [...]

I was finally able to unlock Borderlands (360/PC/PS3) on my PC last night, and what an experience it was. During my first few hours in the game I managed to climb the ranks to level 10, grab my first blue item, unlock numerous challenges – achievements that aren’t linked to any meta account – and [...]
