A first impression is my take on a video game after experiencing the finished product for the first few hours. Believe it or not, many of the “reviews” out there would be labeled as first impressions. You know that excuse that you read Playboy for the articles? It doesn’t really fly. Never did, never will. [...]

The aspect of Grand Theft Auto III that stands out to most gamers is the open world. The ability to go anywhere with little rhyme or reason. Even without a purpose, gamers far and wide remained entertained for hours. Countless players sunk dozens of extended play sessions in to the sandbox without investing more than [...]

The launch lineup (and following month) for 3DS was…anemic, to put it kindly. I believe it was the first time that a title from the Link and Mario universes didn’t launch with Nintendo hardware. What’s worse, Nintendo didn’t put forth any of its premium franchises. The company rested on its laurels and allowed third-party publishers [...]

Hmm, only 22 games completed this year. That’s a far cry from the 36 that I completed in 2009. A whopping 39% drop in games completed. I wondered why that was, so I decided to make this post a lot more visual with tasty pie charts. What immediately jumped out was the amount of games [...]

This is a mini-review. I am not going to re-invent the wheel. If you don’t know of the Supreme Commander franchise then check out my review of Forged Alliance, a stand-alone expansion, to get a more proper introduction to the series. It took me far too long to complete the campaign for Supreme Commander 2. [...]

Sorry for the incredibly delayed review. This piece was put on hold for months due to a very busy convention schedule. It was more than half written when it was put on there in March. I forced myself to make time for it to close out the year and give props to such a superb [...]

A first impression is my take on a video game after experiencing the finished product for the first few hours. Believe it or not, many of the “reviews” out there would be labeled as first impressions. Custer’s Revenge aside, Samus delivered the first shock to gamers in 1987 by revealing that the hero was actually [...]

The reboot of Prince of Persia by Ubisoft stands out in my mind as a key series to grace the Gamecube. That’s outside of Nintendo’s own franchises of course. The little handled-cube and its oddly minute discs may not have had a ton of third-party support, but Ubisoft (and Capcom) gave the platform its best. [...]

Blizzard must have learned about product licensing from George Lucas. The company constantly produces spin-off material for all of its franchises. Much of it is pointless fluff, like Star Wars, but also like Star Wars, it has continued to expand its respected universe through alternative mediums. StarCraft II: Heaven’s Devils is the latest novel in [...]

I used to be a StarCraft junky. Red Alert introduced me and hooked me on the RTS genre, but StarCraft took it to another level. The title tied together my two favorite aspects of video games, strategy and story. StarCraft had an immense universe, unique races with twisted histories and a mysterious overseer that we [...]
